Amazing, isn't it? According to science, the easiest watersheds to be frozen are ponds, lakes, and any bodies with low saturation levels (clear water) and no water current. Following, we have small streams and rivers, where water current is present, but weak. Finally, we have tidal watersheds -- the hardest ones to freeze! There's always current, since the tides change every 6 hours or so (a variation of 5-7 feet depending on the moon). When temperatures drop to the range of -15 to -5 degrees Celsius (0-32 Fahrenheit), mostly everything freezes! Exceptions go to spillways, dams, and places with water inlets -- where the input water is warmer than the ambient temperature water. Long Days and Pleasant Nights!
