Jason Aldean, Keith Urban’s post CMA plans include after parties and Shake Shack

(14 Nov 2018) JASON ALDEAN, KEITH URBAN TALK POST CMA PLANS Country music star Jason Aldean has won a lot of awards, but he admits that the CMA entertainer of the year award is on his bucket list. Aldean will be competing against Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and Chris Stapleton during the awards show on Wednesday, (14 NOV. 2018) airing live on ABC. "It's the entertainer of the year, who doesn't want that, you know what I mean," Aldean said after A rehearsal of his nominated song "Drowns the Whiskey" with Miranda Lambert. "The CMAs, it's been a little tougher for me to crack over here for whatever reason. We've been nominated quite a few times for it, but never pulled it off and won it. But I am also a firm believer in those things happen when it's supposed to happen." Aldean was on stage last year when a gunman opened fire on the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas last year and he said since then, he's stopped taking that privilege to get onstage for granted. "I just think we tend to not take things for granted probably as much as we once did where everything was second nature," Aldean said. "You went and just did what you do. Now it's just like, getting to get up there and do what we do is a privilege. So I try not to take those things for granted. And really going up and trying to make sure the people that coming out to see the shows are going to leave having the time of their life, that's what you want." On a lighter note, Aldean said that since he opened his new bar downtown within walking distance of the CMA Awards, he has a good plan for post-CMA celebrations. "A lot of the labels throw parties and things like that so," Aldean said. "I think my record company is throwing one. We'll probably go hit that for a little while. And then I got a bar that I can just stumble to right across the street. It's kind of nice having my own place right here. We can shoot over there and have all of my crew over there and kind of celebrate with them. This is like the last big thing of the year for everybody, is the CMAs. So this is almost like putting a stamp on the end of the year for everybody and when this is over, everybody kind of cuts loose, so I plan to cut loose a little bit." Urban for his part said he likes to change it up every year for post-CMA celebrations. "It's always different," Urban said. "Sometimes you're like starving so you go hit a burger joint or something. We just had a Shake Shack just open near us, so I'm going to hit that." Urban will be returning to his home country, Australia, and planning a new tour in Europe next year. He said that audiences have really embraced country music in Australia and other countries. "It wasn't that many years ago that audiences were a little bit more reserved," Urban said. "I mean, it's relatively speaking, because you've just come from the States, where it's always full on party mode. It was a little bit more reserved and over the years, it's gone looser and looser and rowdier. Now it's the same whether we play the States or play Australia, the crowd is up and into it and standing. And you know, I come from playing in the clubs so I am used to people being hammered and just like 'Whoo!' That's my kind of crowd to a T. It's my favorite kind of people to play to. And I think from what I am hearing, Europe is becoming the same."
