Jay and Jesse move on to another topic, that concerning Apologetics, which they defined as keeping on the defense, and Polemics, defined as going the opposite direction, on to the offense.

An example of both was a recent debate in Accra between Jesse, Jay and a Ghanaian Muslim debater, Jafaaru, who was had no problem confronting Christianity polemically, but was absolutely hopeless trying to defend Islam apologetically, especially in relation to the Qur’an. Muslims are adept at confronting Christianity; yet, quite hopeless when it comes to defending their own faith.

Christians, on the other hand, are very good at defending Jesus and the Bible, but they are not good at going on the offense, and confronting Muhammad or the Qur’an polemically, primarily due to safety; Christian institutions do not want to teach polemics against Islam for fear that Muslims will find out and target them.

Yet, while Christianity has answered almost every question Islam has thrown at it, Islam is just now coming under polemical scrutiny, and has so much more to answer for; so why aren’t we as Christians using Polemics?

The reason is that Christians just don’t know where to go to learn polemics, so they rarely go on the offensive. There are no real books written on Polemics of Islam; at least not yet; thus, the best place to go is to learn it from others, like the 'Pfander Course on Apologetics', or from people like Jesse and Jay who have been for 10 and 25 years respectively engaging week-after-week with Muslims, hearing their arguments, and coming up with rebuttals to them, while simultaneously taking the same questions and responding in kind.

It’s not good enough to simply defend our faith; we need likewise to confront Islam with theirs, and then provide the only antidote to that of Islam; namely, Jesus Christ and His Gospel.
