Part 1 of 4. My name is John Thornton and I am an artist/filmmaker from Ocean City, New Jersey. I decided to film some of my life on July 24 to submit to "Life in a Day". Because the request was for raw unedited footage I tried to break my content into 4 films. The first film is an overview and the footage is of two dogs running like racehorses in the wetlands behind my house. A beautiful image of freedom and joy. The second film contains a very brief shot or two of a Javascript book and code I have been studying, but mostly it is about a nest of robins right outside our kitchen window that I have been filming since the eggs hatched. On the 24th, the baby birds are quite developed but still being fed and cared for by the parents. The third section shows me at the beach attempting to bodysurf with my 5 year old grandson on my back. I also bodysurf solo and my grandson attempts to "boogie board" with varying degrees of success. The fourth section deals with tics that I remove from our dog Magic's ear. There are some pretty interesting shots of just how engorged a tic from the Jersey Shore can get. Being a humane fellow, I release the tics back into nature after a stern lecture.
