Wedberg Jr. reflects on his experiences at the University of Southern California, dating from the 1940s and spanning the administrations of USC presidents Rufus B. von KleinSmid, Fred D. Fagg, Norman H. Topping, John R. Hubbard, James H. Zumberge and Steven B. Sample. Among other topics, Wedberg discusses the development of USC's downtown division (University College) and his role in creating a faculty handbook during the administration of USC president Norman Topping. A native Southern California who attended Northwestern on a music scholarship, Wedberg came to USC in 1946 to pursue a master's degree in music composition but ended up taking a job as assistant to the registrar. He eventually earned a doctorate in education and, over the years, held a range of administrative positions at USC, including dean of admissions, director of university relations and associate director of governmental relations. Wedberg had begun composing music in college, and after his retirement in 1990, he revisited that passion. Among his compositions is a 1991 symphonic work titled "Queen of Angels Suite," about the history of California, for large orchestra and augmented percussion. Wedberg was interviewed by Michael H. Halloran on June 1, 2004, as part of the USC Emeriti Center's H. Dale Hilton Living History Project. Learn more about USC: http://www.usc.edu Learn more about the H.
