Boris Johnson will be investigated by a Tory Party disciplinary panel over his controversial comments comparing women in burqas to letterboxes. The decision for a disciplinary panel to investigate comes after the party received a flood of complaints about the remarks. It means that the former Foreign Secretary could be hit by disciplinary action - and even be kicked out of the Tory parliamentary party. The move comes despite a senior British Imam publicly defending Mr Johnson and his comments today. Imam Taj Hargey (pictured left) from the Oxford Islamic Congregation, said Mr Johnson 'did not go far enough' because the burka has 'no Koranic legitimacy' and should be banned in Britain. And he said that the former Cabinet minister must 'not apologise for telling the truth' about the burqa because it is 'un-Muslim' and a 'hideous tribal ninja-like garment'.
