I asked Matt Entenza about Tom Emmer's push to limit Federal laws form Minnesota : Matt Entenza : "I think Tom Emmer's effort to pick up what the Confederacy failed to pick up in the 1860's, is just wrong. We wouldn't have civil rights laws in most of this country if states were able to just opt out of them. It's a good example of why the idea that states can pick and choose which civil rights laws, which equality laws, which health care laws and things they can want to pick and choose is wrong. We are the United States of America, but we are united. And my ancestors fought the Civil War for a reason, which is that they believed we were a Federal Government, we weren't a collection of disparate states."
