A simple special effect experiment in making an ordinary object appear larger than it actually is. Here are the steps I took: 1) I used a tall light stand and extended it to the height that the vacuum cleaner would be. I then composed the frame accordingly and recorded some footage of the room. 2) I used some small post-it notes to mark the position of the top and bottom of the light stand on the camera's back screen. 3) Next I setup a green screen and placed the vacuum cleaner in front of it. I had to place it on a coffee table to get it to the right height. 4) Keeping the exact same camera angles and orientation, I moved the camera in so that the vacuum cleaner's top and bottom matched the position marked on the camera's screen. I recorded the vacuum cleaner for 1 minute. 5) I brought both pieces of footage into Adobe Premiere and keyed out the green screen from the Vacuum footage. I made some small adjustments to exposure and contrast to make the vacuum appear more natural. In photoshop, I created some fake vacuum cleaner reflections and shadows which mad the vacuum cleaner look more natural and blend into the scene better.
