(1 Nov 2018) President Donald Trump is campaigning on ending the constitutional right to citizenship for babies born in the United States at a rally in Florida. Trump on Wednesday visited Florida to stump for Republican Gov. Rick Scott, who is challenging incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson for a seat in the Senate, and Republican Ron DeSantis, who is in a tight race against Democrat Andrew Gillum for governor. Trump doubled down on his proposal to end birthright citizenship. He has floated the idea of using executive action, a move panned by constituitonal scholars. Trump also continued his attacks on the media following a mass shooting in a Pittsburgh synagogue that left 11 dead. A small group of protesters was within earshot of Trump outside the synagogue, and hundreds more were kept blocks away by police.
