Plan's vision is for a world in which all children realise their full potential, in societies that respect people's rights and dignity. Education is a critical right. It helps to break the cycle of poverty, giving children the chance to learn and play, to develop healthy relationships and inquiring minds, to connect with their communities and to learn about their rights in every area of their lives.

But not all children are going to school. A 2013 study conducted by Plan found that children with disabilities are often ten times less likely to attend school compared to children without disabilities. A cycle of poverty and disability can prevent children with disabilities from having an education. Lack of accessibility means that children are less likely to start school than other children, to stay in school or to move up a grade. To address this, Plan runs a variety of disability inclusion programmes around the world and believes that inclusion is essential for all children to be able to participate, learn and contribute.
