for lack of a beter word, cheaper steels should show better and quicker results to any sharpening method. This does show that sandpaper does work and I did reduce the chips so I removed a decent amount of metal. The more I do it the better I get as will anyone who tries this. So this can be done with higher quality steels but will take longer and I would add another grit sandpaper in between for better results, maybe a 600 or 800.
