Sell Me This Pen - The Best Answer You Can Give!

Without a doubt this is the most mysterious, irritating and dreaded question that is asked by most interviewers to the candidates. I mean seriously - think about it. Are you there at an interview to sell a pen? And that too a commodity that you either want or do not want. Something that can be priced either in terms of pennies or can be overpriced. So what is the best answer to give for a question like this that asks you to "Sell me this pen?"
Do you get roped into selling the pen?
In my personal experience whenever I have been asked this question - I get straight to the point.
I ask them if the pen is a luxury commodity or if it is a cheap product?
I then figure out where to place them and based on what their requirements are - I tell them that this is a product they are looking for.
But however, there are times when I do find the question absolutely unnecessary and unwanted. And during those moments - I get straight to the point and I even ask the person to sell me the pen and show me how would they do it.
That shocks the interview but yeah - doesn't get me the job anyways!
