How can we meet the technological challenges of a changing world while lifting up everyone in our cities? Dr. Eugenia Duodu, scientist and social entrepreneur, shares her story of growing up in a low income community and the challenges and thrills of becoming an award-winning chemist. Her organization, Visions of Science, brings STEM education to low income communities across Toronto, working to include everyone in the next scientific and technological revolution, and take the serendipity out of building scientific talent. Now the CEO of VoSNL, Eugenia Duodu began with the organization as a volunteer, seeing the opportunity as a perfect combination of her passions: science and community development. Born and raised in a low-income community, she maintains a strong connection to her roots as a mentor and advocate for youth engagement in STEM opportunities. Her goal is to help youth unlock their potential and to make a long-lasting positive impact in local communities and across the world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
