This is a look at where I'm up to with my old school RPG project.

I've always loved Phantasie, mainly because is was the first deep computer RPG I played as a kid, around 1985. At first it was almost impossible to access and understand, but slowly I figured out more and more about the game, and ventured further out into the world, and deeper into the dungeons.

I've always wanted to try to recreate that depth and engagement, while also improving on the things I didn't like about it. And as a game designer who didn't really learn to program as a kid, I'm only now starting to learn enough techniques to start making such a game. So here I go! It's been really fun, and the process of adding new features and seeing the systems come to life brings me a kind of joy that's very much like playing one of these games! :)

To begin with, I'm building all the familiar systems for such a game, but from there I want to explore some procedural world creation, and systemic gameplay systems that allow for a really deep gameplay experience that gives agency and freedom to the player.
