Sportsmen on Winter Water: Perhaps you've heard the public service announcement, now hear the full account. This is a true story from a young man who lived to tell it. The gut-wrenching ordeal occurred on the expansive Ohio River between Gallatin and Switzerland Counties in December of 2010. In worsening weather conditions, the small boat the hunters shared unexpectedly began to fill. The result,the craft sank from beneath the hunters leaving them in frigid December waters in fear for their lives. This is the story of Joe McDermott of Anderson County, and Jeremy Pence and Justin Hearn of Carroll County, Kentucky. Sportsmen on Winter Water is offered respectfully for these good men and their families. Our hope is that Joe's words have a lasting connection with fellow waterfowl hunters, fishermen and cold water adventurists to approach their sports with as much caution as passion.
