Boy held at the Lebombo border released to his parents

The six-year-old boy taken by social workers at the Lebombo border yesterday for not having proper identification documents, has been released into the care of his parents. His mother arrived at the facility with his identification papers today. The boy was traveling to Mozambique with his father but he didn't have any proof that the child was his, nor did he have the child's traveling documents. The father also didn't have a consent letter from the mother. They spent the night under the care of the Department of Social Development. Meanwhile five more children are being held at the border after a taxi driver who was traveling with them, fled. The children were going to Mozambique from the North West Province.
