Mexicans gather in cemeteries to celebrate Day of the Dead

(2 Nov 2018) During the early hours of Friday, Metepec families brought flowers and candles to city cemeteries, gathering at their loved ones' graves sites to commemorate their dead. Each year, the Day of the Dead event brings Mexicans out into the graveyards where their relatives and loved ones are buried, for all-night festivities of food, prayer, music and, on occasion, tequila. In Metepec, families made their way with large bags and folding chairs towards the graves of their loved ones, where they set up camp for the night to celebrate their lives even in death. Relatives were seen decorating graves with flowers, candles and other offerings before sharing food and drink, some serenaded by Mariachi bands that played their dead relatives favourite song.
