Date of issue: 30 August 2013. Speaker: Phil Carr. GOLD PRICES fell on Friday during the Asian trading session on a stronger U.S dollar. The yellow metal fell to $1,395 an ounce, while silver declined to $23.53 an ounce. Gold and Silver reversed direction on Thursday as imminent U.S military attack on Syria receded as President Obama said he had not yet decided on a response to the Syrian regime’s use of chemical weapons against civilians. Also on Thursday, the U.S dollar index surged following a better-than-expected second-quarter U.S GDP Data of 2.5% compared to the previous quarter. As we enter the long U.S Labour Day holiday weekend, trading volumes in many markets on Friday are likely to dwindle. However, it would not be surprising to see some fresh safe-haven demand for precious metals heading into an uncertain weekend, regarding the Syrian situation. Watch Phil Carr and Nik Kalsi of The Gold & Silver Club as they review the latest developments in the commodities markets and analysing the week’s performance.
