After seeing Mark Vergeer play this game briefly during his SHMUPS video, I wanted to make a 'quick' recording as well, showing all of the levels of the game. When I was little, I already loved this game and played it quite a bit. (Though I have to admit it wasn't the original ROM I played :$) Back then I never made it past the second tank, so armed with openMSX's reverse functionality, I decided to try and finish this game for a change! In this game, which according to http://www.generation-msx.nl/msxdb/softwareinfo/526 is the first game to be released for MSX (along with Saurusland and Night Flight), you control a bomber plane, which is also armed with a gun to fend off enemy planes. You have 5 missions to complete, ranging from easy to quite difficult. In the first mission you have to bomb the enemy's radar tower. This may sound simple (and it quite is), but you have to avoid flying into electricity towers, evade the enemy planes and their air mines and make sure you don't run out of fuel nor bombs! The second mission involves taking out a tank. Every time you get close enough to it to drop a bomb on it, it suddenly speeds up again and evades your bombs. The trick is to use your velocity to throw your bombs 'forward' just before you get to close to the tank. Once you've finished off this simple tank, you have to keep your eyes out for a small, red, ICBM launcher. It takes a while before it shows up, so protect yourself by taking out various enemy fighter jets! Next it is time for another tank, but be careful! This one retaliates with sneaky homing missiles! Should you make it past the tank, then you have made it to your fifth and final mission: taking out the headquarters! You have a long way ahead of you though, so dodge those missiles being fired at you from quickly opening and closing shelters on the ground, and air mines being deployed in the air. Keep your eyes open for a white object on the ground though, because if you miss the headquarters, you'll be flying for quite a bit longer! (And you don't want to be running out of fuel!) Once you've collected the bonus for finishing all missions, you start all over at mission 1 again. In this long play I've finished all missions twice and shown various way of dying. I've also shown what happens if you don't catch those fuel packets (or let the bird catch them). This game was recorded using openMSX; a free, open-source cross-platform, MSX emulator. Official builds are available at http://openmsx.sourceforge.net while the latest daily unofficial development builds for Windows and Mac OS X can be downloaded from http://openmsx.fixato.net
