Dayton Features Once-Foreclosed Home as Success Story

DAYTON -- A once-foreclosed and vacant home, now renovated, marks progress in Daytonas neighborhood revitalization initiatives through its Neighborhood Stabilization Programs.

The two-bedroom, two-bath home, at 339 N. Garland Ave. in Daytonas Wright View neighborhood, is completely renovated. Its features include:  remodeled kitchen and baths, refinished original hardwood floors, new energy-efficient mechanical systems and stainless steel appliances, waterproofed finished basement, a one-car garage, shed, deck and a large, fenced rear yard.

A ribbon-cutting and open house are being held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, June 4) to celebrate the homeas transformation.
                                                                        
The home was acquired by CityWide Development Corporation, the City of Daytonas development partner, in November 2013. The property is for sale for $70,000. 

The home was purchased using Neighborhood Stabilization Program funds awarded to Dayton through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The City of Dayton sought and was awarded more than $25 million in funds to be used for property acquisition, rehabilitation and demolition, as well as construction of new housing in targeted areas.
