Kruger National Park, Elephants, Road Check - South Africa Travel Channel

In the Kruger National Park in South Africa we have witnessed the intelligence and social behavior of elephants. 
As a fallen tree blocking the road, it was apparent that elephants were nearby. The sun already made her way towards the horizon.  We had to reach the next camp, in order not to spend the night in the wilderness; so we hurried to get ahead. 
At the last moment we saw an elephant cow and its cub standing at the roadside. We stopped, but nothing happened. It was only when the car that followed us in a distance of about 3-4 km had also stopped, both elephants started to move and crossed the road. 
At the same time, about 100 meters away, a big elephant came out of the thicket and secured the road in the other direction. Only then the rest of the herd crossed the road.
Finally, the smallest animal in the herd was praised for the successful crossing of the road by the mothers and aunts, which were standing in a circle around it.

Im Krüger-Nationalpark in Südafrika wurden wir Zeuge der Intelligenz und des Sozialverhaltens von Elefanten. 
Als ein umgestürzter Baum die Straße blockierte war uns klar, dass Elefanten in der Nähe sein mussten. Da sich die Sonne dem Horizont näherte und wir das nächste Camp erreichen mussten um nicht die Nacht in der Wildnis zu verbringen, beeilten wir uns vorwärts zu kommen. 
Deshalb sahen wir erst im letzten Moment eine Elefantenkuh und ihr Junges am Straßenrand. Wir stoppten, aber nichts passierte. Erst als ein Auto, welches uns im Abstand von ca. 3-4 km folgte, ebenfalls gestoppt hatte, setzten sich die Beiden in Bewegung und überquerten die Straße.
Gleichzeitig kam, ca. 100 m weiter, ebenfalls ein großer Elefant aus dem Gebüsch und sicherte die Straße in der anderen Richtung. Erst danach folgte die Herde und überquerte die Straße. 
Zuletzt wurde das kleinste Tier der Herde von den Müttern und Tanten im Kreise gelobt für die erfolgreiche Querung der Straße.
