NOTE: This song can be truly called an „evergreen".  Zygmunt Karasiński composed one of biggest hits in whole history of a Polish song, and also  one of the wittiest and funniest  song texts was written by Andrzej Włast (under his pseudonym: Willy). With the deep knowledge of human psychology, he describes the whole process of capturing a girl by a man, a way to get her, step by step,  invite him to her home until they happily dive into each others' arms, in her tiny pied-a-terre, where - and it's the song's happy ending - she lives alone!  
Let me - as a sample ot hat little masterpiece of a cabaret song of the Roaring Twenties - roughly translate, what happens in the first stanza. He sees her in the street and after following her for a while, he approaches her with that polite and habitual hunter's question:  Am I right presuming, that  we had met before?. But she is "looking at some shoe in a shop window, then a blouse in a fashion store" and she "remains cold like ice". Yet , she occassionally - and all time having her proud look - meets his gaze reflected in a glass, she even notices that his hands are trembling a little... So, he continues whispering "a few compliments into her ear" and suddenly ( and it is the refrain)  he says: 

Do you live alone, Madame? Or with your he? 
Does an ill-humoured Mom wait for your return? 
Is a nightgown or a pyjama your outfit in a bed? 
Do you live alone, Madame? Or with your man?
