The Equinox Geometry again & slight discrepancies at High Latitudes explained

The reason for the discrepancies some have noted at high latitudes in Time and Date dot com are due to the way the Sunrise and Sunset are measured 

They are not measured from the centre of the Sun.  Sunrise is measured when the TOP of the Sun first appears and Sunset is when the TOP of the Sun disappears. 

If Sunrise & Sunset was measured when the Centre of the Sun crosses the Horizon there would be no discrepancy.
