The Pearl Syncussion SY-1 is a rare and unique analogue drum synth from 1978. It's two channels respond to a trigger input from two drum pads, traditionally triggered using a drumstick (?!?) by an actual drummer.. luckily the trigger also responds to any audio input, as long as that input signal has certain auditory characteristics :) This technique of triggering an analogue synth voice presents many options when it comes to experimental analogue electronic music. In this case I used the Novation Nova's arpeggiator to trigger the syncussion and alter rhythmical elements of the input signal pattern using parameters of the of the arpeggiator such as time scaling, pattern mode and velocity programs, synth voice pararmeters like lfo- based modulation of envelopes etc. and audio based FX such as delay amount, sync patterns and feedback level ETCCCC to mauipulate the syncussion's input triggering
After that, the analouge parameters take over and its all about balancing the rhythmical elements with one of the syncussions 6 separate oscillator modes and dialling in the settings that make the synth sound like all sorts of crazy
