Had to replace bulbs in my Mercury Grand Marquis EATC.  Some units came with twist and lock bulbs however the newer units 1999 through 2011 came with glue on bulbs.  To fix the problem I bought some Radio Shack bulbs with holders and soldered them directly to the board.  I wanted to go led but its hard to find a led that will fit into this unit that had 360 degree lighting and include a resistor.  Thanks for watching.
