Crews prep for snow in Northern Kentucky

KENTON COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has been working to keep the roads clear during Thursday's snowfall. They'll continue to work through the evening as we get more snow.

Crews started Wednesday putting down brine before the traffic hit the road. Thursday, the first round of crews began working at 5 a.m. to drop salt on the roads. Secondary crews hit the roads at 7:30 a.m.

The morning rush saw no major issues in Northern Kentucky.

Nancy Wood with the KYTC says they're just beginning to dip into the 28,000 tons of salt on hand. "Within our 11 counties of District 6, we maintain 47 hundred lane miles, so that's a lot of road to cover. It takes some time, but I'm proud of the crews that we have. They're out there to get the roads in the best possible condition."
