The 2012 VW GLI is a fun-to-drive yet practical four-door that fills the gap between sporty economy cars and pricier luxury sport sedans. Lauren Fix, the Car Coach, takes a closer look.

Standard/ Options:
17" high performance tires, four-wheel disc brakes and every GLI comes standard with anti-lock disc brakes, traction and stability control and side curtain airbags. Power locks and keyless entry come standard.

The 2012 VW Jetta GLI has a more dynamic look than the standard Jetta. During my test drive in this well-rounded sedan, I appreciated its athletic handling, comfortable ride, swift acceleration and excellent fuel economy.

My highway long distance test drive showcased the Jetta GLI's stability at high speeds and impressive adjustable seat coverage. I took a turn in the back seat and found plenty of leg and headroom for all 5 possible passengers. Also, the 18" motorsport black rims really made the car stand out.

As for a sound system, the Fender Premium system was top quality, with an otherwise quiet cabin both on the highway and city streets.
