The Holy Spirit—also referred to as the Holy Ghost—is one of the greatest gifts Christ gave His Apostles and the world following His Resurrection. “And I will pray the Father,” Jesus said, “and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever” (John 14:16). After receiving the Holy Spirit, you too can have a Comforter that abides with you forever. Why is it so important to live worthy to have the Holy Spirit with you? His influence will indicate God’s love and will for you. When you need help making life choices, the Holy Spirit can confirm whether your decision is what Heavenly Father wants you to do. He will testify of truth so you can make the best decisions in your life. He will also bear witness to you that Christ is real, that the Bible is true, that following God’s plan will bring you lasting happiness and eternal life, and of the reality of countless other essential gospel truths. The first step to receiving the Holy Spirit is repentance, belief in Jesus as sacrifice for your sins and being baptized in His name. Through His priesthood authority, you will then receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
