Meet Dutch, the new trauma dog at Arizona State University's Police department. He is a black Labrador retriever puppy who will be entering six months of training to become a trauma dog. His role will be to support the ASU community by comforting victims of traumatic encounters with crime. A trauma dog helps victims to relax, normalize brain processes and allows them to talk with less stress.

Dutch is unique in that he is part of one of four university law enforcement units in the country that have a special victims unit that supports victims of crime. Dutch will also be a stress reliever for the officers of the ASU Police department.

Sergeant Jason Latella is his handler although he will also work with Zeina Elqadah, who is a victim advocate now working with ASU PD. Dutch is also a sworn police officer serving our community.
