Today's distro is a distribution that is lightweight and supports modern hardware without the bloat other distributions can include. Unfortunately, I was unable to get any systems working right. I guess it doesn't like my hardware! To be clear, any distribution I am testing must work out of the box. Tinkering is not an option, unless it is a minor and easy thing.
