While walking around on my free time I hear a Wire-tailed Manakin (Pipra filicauda) calling in the undergrowth of lighter, open rain forest, near varzea forest and a tiny streams.

Said to be quiet and easily overlooked, if you know its call its easily located. Males form leks 4-6 feet up in understory; individuals are often widely scattered, each with several display perches. Mostly silent displays include lateral side jumps, short flights (often slow and butterfly like), and swoop-in flights accompanied by a "klok" sound on landing. Also side to side pivoting with head low, feathers of upper back and sides erect like a fan, and raised tail filaments brushing another male's face and throat.

This bird was a special request from http://www.footlooseforays.com once. I found it and received the most gracious tip of my life.
