Schizophrenia is a mental illness characterized by episodes of psychosis with hearing voices, delusions (false beliefs), and disordered thinking. Other symptoms in schizophrenia may include social withdrawal, decreased emotional expression, and lack of motivation. 
The causes of schizophrenia have been the subject of much debate, schizophrenia with various factors proposed and discounted. Schizophrenia research under the medical model is scientific environment, psychological and social factors are important contributory factors in schizophrenia.
Schizophrenia is diagnosed on the basis of symptom profiles. Schizophrenia is best thought of as a syndrome, a cluster of symptoms that may or may not have related causes, rather than a single disease.
It is possible for schizophrenia to develop at any age. 

Positive symptoms of Schizophrenia
Positive symptoms of schizophrenia are those symptoms that are not normally experienced, but are present in people with schizophrenia. They can include delusions, disordered thoughts and speech, and hallucinations, typically regarded as manifestations of psychosis. Hallucinations can involve any of the senses including taste, sight, touch, and hearing. They are also typically related to the content of the delusional theme Positive symptoms generally respond well to medication
Negative symptoms of Schizophrenia
Negative symptoms of schizophrenia are deficits of normal emotional responses or of other thought processes. Schizophrenia symptoms commonly include flat expressions or little emotion, poverty of speech, inability to experience pleasure, lack of desire to form relationships, and lack of motivation. 
Cognitive symptoms of Schizophrenia
Cognitive symptoms of Schizophrenia are deficits in cognition, and are the earliest and most constantly found symptoms in schizophrenia. The presence and degree of cognitive dysfunction in people with schizophrenia has been reported to be a better indicator of functionality than the presentation of positive or negative symptoms.
