(31 Oct 2018) U.S. Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis on Tuesday called on ceasefire talks for the Yemen war to happen within 30 days. Mattis, speaking at the U.S. Institute of Peace, says the conflict has gone on long enough. Yemen's civil war is being fought between a U.S. and Saudi Arabia coalition against a Houthi insurgency backed by Iran. The war broke out in 2015 and has destroyed much of country, leading the United Nations to report that the nation is at a brink of famine. Mattis was also asked about plans to develop a "Space Force" to defend U.S interests in space.
