After questioning 25-year-old Vincent Franklin, investigators returned to the scene of his parent's double murder and found a third victim.
Buncombe County Sheriff Van Duncan said detectives believes the body could be Franklin's missing girlfriend, Cheyenne VanTreese.
We do believe it's a very strong possibility, said Van Duncan
Cheyenne's family has told News 13 she has been missing since Sunday, October 6th. At a joint news conference, Asheville Police Chief William Anderson said Cheyenne's family reported her missing to them Tuesday, November 5th. I will say we have put a lot of effort into this investigation since the time it was reported on November 5th, said Chief Anderson. We've interviewed a lot of family members, a lot acquaintances, her acquaintances. I mentioned that we did talk to Vincent about her, said Anderson.
Chief Anderson said his detective interviewed Franklin seven days later, Tuesday November 12th.
November 12th is when we interviewed the suspect and we had already done a lot of work in between that time as well, said Anderson.
But Anderson said no leads came from that interview or any other interviews detectives conducted to find Cheyenne.
Sheriff Duncan said Franklin has talked with detectives.
A lot of that's lead to where we are today, said Sheriff Duncan.
The sheriff would not elaborate, but his statement indicated Franklin may have assisted them in locating the third body.
I don't want to discuss much about that particular detail, said Sheriff Duncan.
When asked about the murder of Franklin's mother and stepfather, Joy and Andre Runne, reporters asked if there's a known motive.
Uh, don't really want to discuss motive right now, said Sheriff Duncan.
As for where the latest third body was found the Sheriff said this.
Really don't want to discuss those things, said Sheriff Duncan.
Investigators often keep details of an investigation secret from the public so they can verify when someone comes forward with details that they didn't hear those details on the news.
