Foster kitty Jackson Galaxy was just about to be adopted. He seemed a bit "off" so we took him to the Vet just to make sure he wasn't catching a cold. We were shocked to find out that Jackson has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a thickening of the lining of the heart. It was causing Jackson to build up fluid around his heart and in his chest. This common, deadly, ailment is only detectible by echocardiogram, a very expensive test that can only be performed at an animal hospital that also has a cardiologist on staff. Racing against the clock, we were able to get Jackson tested and begin treatment that saved his life. Jackson has a long journey ahead of him and more tests, but thanks to the love and support of so many of you Jackson, at least, has a chance for a sunny future.
