I was going through some of my Mother's boxes and I ran across an envelope full of my Nana's (I am half Sicilian FYI) old school recipes. I thought this was really cool as I had recently discovered my love for cooking. So I jumped right on it and made a few of them OMG they came out great. So here you go here is one of here awesome recipes... My Nana's Marinara Sauce!

Total Time: 2 Hours
Makes: 4 Cups

1/2 Cup Olive Oil
2 Cups Finely Chopped Onions
2 Cups Water
2 Gloves of Garlic Crushed
2 Cans (1 lbs.) Tomato Puree
2 lbs. Italian Plum Tomatoes Chunked to your preference
1/4 Cup Chopped Parsley
2 Tbsp. Sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp. Salt
3 tsp. Oregano
2 tsp. Basil
1/2 tsp. Pepper
1 tsp. Fennel Seed

1. Heat Olive Oil in large pot, sauté the onions and garlic until nice and tender, about 5 minutes

2. Stir in remaining sauce ingredients. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for 1 - 2 hours (until you get the desired thickness, I like mine very thick so I let it go about an hour and 45 minutes).

It's a SUPER easy recipes that tastes so freakin' good! Nana really knew how to cook. I can't wait to bust out a few more of he recipes and try them!
