Please see the "GEM Blog: GEM Unification Rescinded, Officially" video. Newton and Coulomb's force laws are strikingly similar: different players play in the same positions and there is one sign change. We use this observation as the foundation for proposing a unified field theory. Starting from the Lagrangian, the field equations are derived. The exponential metric is a solution to the field equations which is consistent with current tests of gravity, yet different from in its predictions of light bending around the Sun. The symmetries needed for the weak and strong force are possible to include by converting the vector potential into a quaternion. The vector coupling term is examined. The algebraic difference between a spin 1 and spin 2 operator is clearly stated based on a quote from Feynman. By treating the vector coupling term as a quaternion, the symmetrices of spin 1 and spin 2 are seen in the phase so long as the gravity part is a Jordan algebra, not a Lie algebra for electromagnetism.
