The deer population explosion may soon be in the hands of Parkville police. "They seem to be multiplying. It's getting worse instead of better," resident Chris Pinkham said. "They'll get up on their hind legs and stand by the deck and eat everything up high." More deer have been reported around the metro area. Parkville Police Chief William Hudson said the city's effort to manage the deer using hunters have failed, partly because of deer-loving people. "I believe there were people who violated the no-trespassing (order) and went in to alert the deer," Hudson said. You hate to think of killing Bambi's mother. But it can't be good for them, to have such a high density," Pinkham said. Hudson said the plan is to have the police department firearms expert, a marksman, try to take out 20 deer this year.
