"When I left Lake Volta I promised myself and, mainly to slave children that I left behind, that I would denounce the situation, fight for them and come back. It's impossible to be indifferent to the deafening silence of these children, especially because is that very indifference that is killing them!" -- says Alexandra Borges, whose talk at TEDxAveiro provoked tears and long standing ovations, and, we hope, mobilized many supporters and followers, because, TEDxers can't be indifferent.
In this warm, inspiring and also shocking talk, Alexandra explains how one journalistic work has turned into devotion and even obsession. Up to today she has saved about hundred kids who were sold by their own parents and turned into slaves, living horrifying present and having no future. Now their smiles are back, they have promising future and guaranteed education, and, as Borges says, "one of them will be future president of Ghana".
Alexandra decided to change this and dedicated her life to this cause. Hear her, and see how you can join and spread the idea.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
