In this video, Andrew presents two ruined castles to the north-west of Blairgowrie whilst I sustain a life threatening finger injury.

The first castle we came across was Drumlochy Castle, which sits atop a small knoll, surrounded by farmland. Not much of the former tower house remains, although a gunloop still exists in the remnants of the former wall.

The second and more impressive ruined castle we visited was Glasclune Castle, which rests on top of a very steep slope above a tributary of the Lornty Burn. This steep approach, engulfed in unforgiving woodland made the approach to the castle a challenging one. I'd imagine that the castle would have had great strategic value when it was built.

Glasclune Castle, which was built around 1600 and during the 17th century, the castle was home to the Blairs but unfortunately, thanks to it's ruinous state, not much is known about it. In-fact, so few people visit the castle that no photos of it appear on Flickr. I plan to remedy that shortly.
