Blue Origin’s “Rocket for Space Tourism” soars on test flight

Blue Origin, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos's aerospace company, completed the test flight of its New Shepard booster and crew capsule on April 29 near Van Horn, US. Named after the first American in space, Alan Shepard, reached an altitude of 106km, and landed about 450 seconds after launch. The launch was the eighth test of the unmanned suborbital rocket. The flight carried research payloads for NASA, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and commercial customers, as well as a test dummy named “Mannequin Skywalker.” Blue Origin hopes to fly tourists to space as soon as 2019.
