This is what I refer to as a "blackmailed compliment". I want to challenge you to dial into your language. If you are the one complaining, what are you saying and what do you expect from other people? What void in you needs to be filled? If you are the one trying to fix the situation, what is your tone, why do you feel compelled to continue the dance? Is it because the other person's self-criticism makes you uncomfortable, or you don't know how else to respond?
