Cooler weather has people in the mountains reaching for the thermostat as morning temperatures hover in the low 40's.For some homeowners, that means a rush to fill up oil tanks that have been sitting idle since last spring.Right now, prices are only a quarter or so away from the per gallon mark, which is lower than it was in the spring.Distributors say the price of oil has been high all year.It leveled off at the end of summer, but rose to as much as .89.Today's price is around .76, which is a decrease from last week.The ups and downs of the market can be confusing and frustrating for customers who are gambling that the day they make their order for home heating oil the price will be as low as possible for that week.
