Please read the description for my other toy films, "Scum of the Universe" and "The Grinder" for a little bit of history and an explanation of what they're about (and why they're a bit rubbish).

"Another Place" was the third 'completed' project that I began in November 2001. Originally edited together using Video Studio and then Pure Motion and then finally Premiere Elements 4. It took weeks to complete the original cut but wasn't fully completed until 2008, seven years later! This version is the 2008 final cut.

Unfortunately I never got round to starting production of Part 2, though I had some assets ready, filmed scenes, set pieces etc. I recently had a trawl through my backed-up data and had an urge to finally finish it, sadly the ViewQuest M138B webcam I used 11 years ago no longer works, at least the drivers don't; not with Win7 or XP so it doesn't look like Part 2 will ever be made, sorry. Which is why I have included some Part 2 scenes at the end of this film (along with original bloopers and production photos).

I hope you enjoy it, and I mean that sincerely. My other projects from 2001 were a bit rubbish but Another Place was a real labour of love and despite not finishing it I'm proud of the result.

This version was lifted from the DVD I authored using Adobe Premiere Elements 4. For some reason I did not have an AVI or MPG file, luckily Premiere Elements 10 easily imports from DVD's and the final FLV render for Youtube has good quality (well, apart from the original quality of the ViewQuest webcam which was awful).

This is actually my second attempt at uploading this. The first was one was flagged due to copyright (Universal Music Group). I had originally used "Theme From A Summer Place" by Percy Faith and His Orchestra for the opening intro. I have now replaced it with my own music. UMG also claimed copyright for one sound effect for wind, which is bull shit. Most sound effects including the wind are from Classic Sound Effects CD by ASV Transacord in association with Film Sound Effects Ltd, Twickenham Studios. These sounds are free to use. If UMG claim this sound effect again they can go bollocks.

Due to changes with the music I've had to replace the original end credits and also had to re-do the opening credits because of the new music.

UPDATE:

IODA were claiming copyright on one sound effect of...god knows what. I think they make this shit up. Apparently they were claiming breach of copyright for "Andi Sexgang-Saddleworth Moor"...well your guess is as good as mine! I disputed it and they sensibly released their claim. +1 for democracy and common sense uh?
