Taranaki Explosion New Plymouth - 19th May 2018 Sam "The Terror" Rapira has called time on his boxing career for the second time in 12 months after a stinging defeat on Saturday. Last month, Rapira announced his return to the ring, after hanging up his gloves in May 2017, to take on Christchurch's Ratu Dawai for the New Zealand Professional Boxing Commission (NZPBC) National Light Heavyweight title. But Rapira's coach Lolo Heimuli literally threw the towel in during the eighth round of Saturday night's match-up due to concerns for his boxer's safety. Dawai was announced the winner by technical knock out.
