This is a Hero battle. Hero battles are stages where you can recruit new characters into your faction. Some characters are only available in a certain story, while others are available in all of them. Sophie for example is only available in Tamaki's story.

Her stage is...sort of tough. Mostly because there's a ton of weaponry around the map that blasts fireballs at you if you get near them. And they are indestructible. Your best bet is to just steer clear of them altogether and keep heading towards the objectives instead.

After you defeat some reinforcements and messengers trying to escape, Sophie will get her bombs back and take out some of the weaponry, while also opening a path to the enemy main camp in the center, defended by Nobunyaga. This will allow you to move in and take care of him, winning the stage and allowing you to recruit Sophie.
