Nakayama was the founder of Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido & the only person to receive 10th dan in Kendo, Iaido, & Jodo from the ZNKR(All Japan Kendo Association) He was also the 7th soke of Shindo Munin Ryu & held an menkyo kaiden (instructors license) in Shindo Munin Ryu.
