A wave of bomb threats emailed Thursday to hundreds of schools, businesses and government buildings across the U.S. triggered searches, evacuations and fear — but there were no signs of explosives, and authorities said the scare appeared to be a crude bitcoin extortion attempt.

Stefan Holt also reports on a fire in Queens, a Brinks truck that dropped hundreds of dollars on a New Jersey highway and Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez smacking down speculation over a 2020 presidential run.
