Humans are programmed to scan their environment for danger. Every observation goes through a filter after which we decide to fight, flee or approach. More often than not, this filter oversimplifies reality and you create a stigma. An untrue and often negative preconception of the personality of the other. How does this preconception influence the way healthcare professionals approach their clients? Danny is a healthcare professional and an academy teacher at InHolland. In the program ‘together strong against Stigma’ he educates his colleagues and students about the dangers and effects of preconceptions. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
