X650 Course Locked Over The Amish Heart Land

This is an 11 min video that is unedited from a flight my X650 took over Amish land in Bremen, IN.  The quadcoptor was flying well and under control until a point at which just locked a course straight ahead and just left.  I believe the DJI Naza just locked.  I say this for it did not seem to enter failsafe as it never stopped and hovered even though it surely went out of radio range.  Or the receiver just locked. (Is that even possible?)

It took an 2.5 mile or so trip across the land at about 10 to 12 MPH and was at a altitude of 160 feet.  It held this the entire flight.  I lost video from my 5.8Ghz 500mh FPV system at about 4,000 feet away.  I took note of the last reading the best I could and it was still on the same course at the same speed and altitude.  

It turns our that 160 feet was just the right height needed to skim over not only high voltage power wires, but also tree tops.  It had lost all hope of ever seeing the X650 again that I had been flying for 1.5 years.  But I received an email.  It was from a nice Amish lad that not only Googled my name that was labeled inside, but also paired that X650 that was printed on the parts.  He found my videos here, that took him to OursideOurBubble.com when he was able to use the contact us link to send the note.  It had damage, but the parts can be used again vs just being lost.

Sorry to say you do not see the crash at the end. The impacted caused the GoPro to stop without closing the file.  As such, to save the file, it took off the last 10/15 seconds of the video.  Thus no crash.  But it still was an interesting flight and we got to meet a great family.

All in all, even though it is a long clip, it made for some nice video along the way.
